New Year’s Transformation

It’s that time again. Everyone’s social media feeds are full of “New year, new me” status updates. Ambitions are high to start the New Year on a great note. I too enjoy setting goals to help myself grow as an individual.

I don’t want to just write about all the new goals you can set for yourself in the New Year. Quite frankly, there are too many to list! Every person is different and wants to better them self in a different way. For the past few months I have been really into reading all the amazing home decor blogs out there. Every one of the blogs that I have come across are inspiring and have made me think about my home in a different way than before. (I know you are wondering why I am blabbing on about myself… don’t worry there is a moral to this story!) Reading blog after blog on home decor, I have developed an interest in it. What better way to start the New Year?! I am challenging myself to re-do a room in my apartment. This is going to be a fun project!

Since football season is just about over, I am going to need a new hobby to take over my Sundays. This is something I have never really done before since this is really my first apartment, I have mostly passed-down items from my older sister, family and friends. I really want to take the time to make my place “my home” and add make some changes that will scream “Briana!” I have chosen the kitchen as the room to start. Here are some inspiration pictures I have:

I am a big fan of HGTV! The two images are very different from each other, but I do really like them both. I am not looking to copy them, but instead have them act as inspiration. I am looking to create something totally different that allows my friends and family to see my personality come alive in this room. I have a decent sized eat in kitchen. We spend hours around the table, sharing lots of laughs and wine! Since this is the most popular room in the house I want to make it warm, inviting, and comfy.

I probably will not be painting since I am a renter, but I believe I can still transform the place. Since this is something I haven’t done before I am super excited. There is a lesson to be learned. Not all new year’s goals have to be about saving or making more money, losing weight to be the better version of you. I challenge you too, to do something you have never done before. At the end of this project I know I am going to be proud of the outcome and to know I can do something I thought I couldn’t do before.

I know things like this will not happen overnight. With that being said I plan to post an update piece and a finished room piece. I will be sure to post all items used in the transformation! I hope this piece inspires you to think outside the box and try your hand at something new. You never know it might be something you love!

Stay Tuned!

Big things are coming in 2017!

A fresh start seams like fun!

It’s hard to believe that we are already half way into the first month of the new year! As each new year begins we make promises to ourselves to make better choices, get healthy, rid ourselves of negativity, and start fresh. Why do these resolutions need to focus on the negatives? Instead, why not focus on the positives and promise to do more of something we enjoy? It’s not too late to get going on those resolutions!

If your resolution is to sew more, why not take a stab at a new quilting project? They are a great group activity and make a beautiful gift for family, friends, and loved ones. Get the girls together for a quiet night in – complete with wine, snacks, and quilting! Take all of those college t-shirts your son has stocked his closet with and turn them into a special graduation gift. Is there a new baby on the way? A personalized baby blanket is the warmest of welcomes. The options and possibilities are endless.

Not sure where to begin? We are here to help! One of our favorite fabric companies is Quilting Treasures. They have a wide range of fabrics from licensed characters, florals, basics, novelty prints, and so much more. They offer FREE project sheets on their site featuring their prints. It’s an excellent tool and we suggest checking it out. We absolutely love their Seams Like Fun collection by Denise Urban. The complete project sheet with step-by-step instructions can be downloaded at the Quilting Treasures website or by clicking on the photo below. Also featured in the project is their Lola Textures blender collection.

PANTONE’s color of the year!

With the new year already in full swing, we wanted to take a moment to highlight Pantone’s Color of the Year as well as their Spring 2015 Fashion Colors!

Pantone is “the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems and leading technology for the selection and accurate communication of color across a variety of industries … known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer.”¹ Think of them as the official guide for all things color, the official color chemists, whether in fashion, fabrics or manufacturing.

This year, the official color of the year is: MARSALA (Pantone 18-1438).

Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in
to its embracing warmth.” –
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®

This year, try to find some new and exciting ways to use it throughout your home decor, in your fabric creations, and in your own personal style! It will be a great addition for weddings, sewing projects and more! Pantone’s website provides some great photos of ways to incorporate the color into your life, as well as color combinations that work well with Marsala.

For Spring 2015 Fashion, Pantone offers a unique blend of colors they’ve titled “En Plein Air” (In The Open Air).

Many feel compelled to be connected around the clock because we are afraid we’ll miss something important. There is a growing movement to step out and create ‘quiet zones’ to disconnect from technology and unwind, giving ourselves time to stop and be still. Color choices follow the same minimalistic, ‘en plein air’ theme, taking a cue from nature rather than being reinvented or mechanically manipulated. Soft, cool hues blend with subtle warm tones to create a soothing escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.” – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute®

Looking ahead…

looking ahead

When we all wake up tomorrow morning it will be 2015. As everyone reflects on the past 365 days we would like to take a moment to look at what this next year has in store for us here at Fabric Textile Products, Inc. This company has been growing rapidly for the past several years and the best is only yet to come for us. From selling scrap fabric to selling hemstitch napkins to selling all kinds of textile goods, we could not be any happier. We are forever grateful for the support of our customers, both old and new. We know that 2015 will be even better than the last. In February we will be introducing 3 gorgeous napkin collections – The Duchess Collection, The Country Plaid Collection, and The Candy Stripe collection to the shop. We currently work with some excellent fabric vendors and are hoping to expand our network and add some more variety. You all had suggestions and we listened! We have added wool to the shop , we are working to improve the overall quality of the hemstitch products, and window treatments were another new addition to the mix. Nothing is perfect and there is always something to improve upon! We want nothing more than to keep our customers happy and satisfied. We thank all of you for an excellent 2014 and we know 2015 will be even bigger and better!

cheers!

We wish you all a very a happy and healthy new year! Cheers to 2015!

With warmest regards,

The Staff at Fabric Textile Products, Inc.
